5-year-old Elijah Peterson from Columbus, Ohio is getting a lot of positive attention online after his very funny 911 call is being mass shared online. He had called to report that his father had left him home all alone. 911 dispatcher Sara was able to keep a level head and guide the young kid through the situation. The result was an unforgettably funny conversation that cracks up everybody completely who hears it. Even though the situation itself was pretty serious… Sara almost could not help herself from laughing out loud the longer she stayed on the line with young Elijah. She knew the situation could have potentially been very serious and that she had to compose herself, but she simply could not manage it. Her colleagues had to hear this conversation. After everything was set and done with Elijah, Sara played back the recording to her colleagues as well as to her friends and all of them found it equally hilarious and particular. One thing led to another and eventually the conversation made it to the online world… Now many people know about the brave and funny Elijah and his story. Yet, it quickly became clear that his father was not too happy with this… What did Elijah tell the 911 operator? Why was it cracking everybody up, and why did the boy’s father want nothing to do with it? Afternoon naps were a common habit of young Elijah, and today was no different. His father had just tucked him in for a quick nap after which Elijah had fallen asleep almost immediately. But, of course, that was after he had asked his father to prepare his favorite meal for dinner, to which his father had grudgingly agreed. Later, when Elijah finally woke up in the evening, it did not take him long to go downstairs and meet an empty dining table. Dinner was usually almost ready by the time he was up from his nap – after all, this was dinnertime! Elijah called out for his father, hoping to get a good reason his favorite meal was not on the table yet. The five-year-old got no reply. His father did not answer him, so Elijah went to his dad’s room where he wasn’t either. He looked around the house but still he could not find his dad, nor could he find his brother, sister and their dog. None of them were to be found anywhere, which did not make sense to the little boy. He couldn’t help but wonder if anything awefule had happened to them. Or could this be some sort of prank? His sister had been taunting him with pranks on moments in which he least expected it. After a while, he again began to worry. He rememeberd that his father and brother never joined his sister to prank him, so this scenario could be ruled out. Short after Elijah began to panic and cry. He was scared that his family would be gone forever, leaving him with no idea what to do. All he wanted at this point was his familily to sit at the dining with him, laughing and talking like usual. But what could he do? He was just a lost and hungry five years old child. Elijah was home alone, and to make matters worse, he was locked inside as well. He could not even go ask for help from the friendly neighbor whose dog he loved to play with. The young boy reached for the phone and thought about calling someone, but then realized that he didn’t know anyone’s number. Well, except for one certain number. His mother always taught him that there was a number he could call for help whenever he was in trouble. This was definitely the best possible moment to call this number. Thankfully, the number was quite short and he could still remember the three numbers: ‘911’. So he looked at the house phone and pressed the right buttons. Meanwhile, at 911’s call center, the evening team was having a quiet shift so far. Only a few calls had been coming in, and of course, this was good news to them. They had some time to relax, get to know one another a bit better and – most importantly – not having to worry about any ongoing crimes or crises for some time. Sara, a dispatcher, picked up the call when she heard the phone ringing. When she answered the line, she could barely hear anything at the other end, except for a vague sniffing sound by someone. This brought her to an almost immediate alarming attitude. She knew she had to try to calm down the person on the other end of the call. When Sara finally realized that the caller was a child, she became even more concerned. It certainly was not the first time she had a young caller on the line. Thus, she knew the importance of treating the situation with caution. It could be nothing, and once in a while, it could be something very serious. She was hoping that it would be the former, as Elijah began to talk to her. Sara listened carefully and made notes as he spoke. Something strange was definitely going on with his family – none of them was around and he had been locked inside the house. But thankfully, no one was in immediate danger except the poor boy who wanted to see his family. Relieved that the problem at the moment was that he couldn’t find his family, Sara sent two police officers to Elijah’s house. They were to stay with the young boy and keep him company and entertained till his father or another family member returned. If the father didn’t return anytime soon, they were to bring him to the station. While the police officers were still on their way to Elijah’s house, Sara continued talking with Elijah, who was cracking her up every second. At the same time, Sara had to stay calm and professional. She held back her laughter, and when she couldn’t hold it any longer, she would point the microphone away to let out some laughs. Elijah was undeniably a funny kid, but Sara was determined to make the force proud by staying composed. This meant no laughing out loud. Soon enough the officers got to Elijah, while Sara was quite relieved to get off the call and finally be able to take a breather! Furthermore, she needed to let out all the laughter she had been keeping in. Having ended the call, Sara decided to do a bit of research on Elijah and his dad. After a quick google search, she found his father on Facebook – he looked exactly the way Elijah had described him, including wearing his signature face cap on all his recently uploaded images. Glancing through the father’s page turned out to be quite depressing and worrisome, but she kept on scrolling, hoping to find a clue in something to what was going on. Sara scrolled back to a couple of months ago and saw a post about Elija’s mother. He had mentioned on the post that with his wife no longer around him, he felt lost. A couple of other posts were also about his relationship with the wife, and all seemed to spell out the end to which both had now come to. The couple had had a rough time and remaining together would have caused more harm. Another thing Sara noted was the type of posts he made on Facebook. Following the separation from his wife, Elijah’s father made more erratic and strange posts. Sara couldn’t stop wondering where he was and if he and the other two kids were truly fine as she had thought before. At this point, Sara admired Elijah’s composure on the phone. All wasn’t well in their home and he acted nothing like how the situation was. Not sure what to make of this information, she called the two officers that had arrived at Elijah’s and shared all that she had found out. The two officers concluded that it would be best to have Elijah at the station, considering the info that had been provided by Sara. In the meantime it was getting late and something definitely needed to be done, so they took him to the station without much of a struggle. Sara, whose shift at the station was almost over, volunteered to help the two officers out with the potential case. Also, passing out on an opportunity to meet her new young friend sounded lame. Therefore, she decided to stay back at the station and meet the young child in person. But this was very uncommon for somebody in her position and she would have to get permission from her supervisor for this. You can not just go and visit somebody who had just called in a most likely distressed state. Especially a child of only five years old!  Sara wondered whether it was even something she should do? Was it not a bit weird? Was she not grossly overstepping her boundaries as a professional 911 operative? But her heart was stronger than her head in this situation. Therefore, she decides to follow her heart. She needed to talk to the boy about his father, his family situation and the incredible phone call that they just shared. Sara’s supervisor was not so keen at first, but then she began to show her boss all that she had found and she additionally let him listen to the phone call. This made him change his mind. He agreed that this was all valuable information and Sara should give it to the police. Based on the recorded phone call – which he secretly found hilarious as well – he allowed her to go help and talk to the boy. Sara was now certainly determined to go to Elijah, but before she had to do something else first. Sara called the police who informed her what station the boy had been transported to. She quickly downloaded the recorded conversation onto her phone and left. In all her haste, she finds out at her car that she has forgotten her car keys. She rushes back inside and grabbed the keys from her desk and left soon after.  During the drive she listened to the recorded call a couple more times and sometimes she caught herself just laughing again. The way this boy was describing his father and family life in a stressful situation like this was just bizarre and like nothing that Sara ever heard before. During the drive, Sara also kept getting messages from her colleagues. Apparently, her boss played the recording for other people in the office after Sara had left and they all loved it! The office was transformed from a quiet workplace into a noisy building. Everyone was talking about Sarah and the boy at this point.  Multiple people were telling Sara that she should post the footage online, as this could end up crazy viral. Everybody needed to hear this. But Sara was not so sure. She knew from previous situations that not everyone would be happy when their face or voice ends up on the Internet.  Even though it was allowed to share 911 recordings in the appropriate channels as long as it didn’t cross certain boundaries, she felt like widely sharing these conversations crossed a lot of trust barriers. It would also be not like her to share a conversation like this one – that was simply not in her nature. People calling the 911 line are often in emotional and one of their most vulnerable states they had ever been in and just posting that online – even with the identity hidden – just felt like an intrusion of privacy to some extent. This is something Sara was all too keen to avoid. When she arrived a couple of moments later, the police on the spot were already busy with processing the case. They had been trying to reach Ejiah’s father but this had been unsuccessful so far. It looked like he had his cell phone off. And Elijah’s mother was nowhere to be seen either. Sara started explaining to them that they were probably not going to reach him and showed them what she had found on the Facebook page. The messages were clear enough for the police to start focusing on trying to call Ejiah’s mother instead. While they were doing this, another officer pointed Sara to a room where somebody from child services was watching Elijah. Sara found the woman being absolutely spellbound by what Elijah was telling her. Sara was very curious at this point why the woman had been talking about Elijah like that.  Sara introduced herself to Elijah as the 911 lady and she immediately saw his eyes light up. “You are so nice!” Elijah gave Sara a big hug while the woman from child services watched this, being a bit confused about it. Sara herself did not want to let go of Elijah, she enjoyed cuddling with him too much.  She talked to Elijah for a bit and when he went to go and read a comic book, the woman watching them took Sara apart for a moment to ask for an explanation. She wanted to know all the details of the conversation between her and Elijah, from beginning to end. Sara explained that she was the one who guided Elijah through the situation until the police arrived. But her conversation with him and the information she found online later had moved her so much that she felt like she needed to meet him. This is why she wanted to come here, as Sara explained to the woman. Based on the father’s Facebook posts, it seemed like Elijah’s father had found it difficult to look at his youngest son as he reminded him too much of his ex-wife and he was openly speculating about his life without him. Sara got a little angry about it, she felt. The conversation that Sara had had before with Elijah reflected as much. He was telling her about how much his daddy didn’t like him while in his own eyes he was “the best kid in the whole wide world”. Sara could barely hold back her tears and she felt so sorry for the little boy at this point. The conversation also went into detail about there being something wrong with his dad. The boy explained this by called his father a “mean silly billy” and “unfair with no hair”. Elijah seemed to have a thing for rhyming his insults, making it more serious and funny at the same time. He also told Sara that he didn’t even need anybody to come and pick him up, as he enjoyed having the house to himself. But he did want somebody to talk to, since he had the unwanted feeling that he was alone. Sara asked him if he had any brothers or sisters, but it turned out that he is an only child. And while this had all been very funny to Sara, she also realized the seriousness of the situation as Elijah had obviously been somewhat neglected by his father for a while now culminating in his dad just up and leaving. Besides, you can’t leave a boy of 5 alone in such a big house, Sara thought. But finally some good news came as well for the young Elijah. The police had managed to reach his mother and she was coming right now to pick him up. She had no idea of what had been going on with her son and ex-husband. She was completely panicked when she heard what her son had been through that day. At the time his mother had made a rash decision not to fight for custody as her children all seemed to love their father a lot more than her, but now it had shown that this was not the case for Elijah. It was time for some action and she had to make an important decision. After processing the paperwork she took him to her home nearby and started the process to get custody over him, which should not be difficult considering the recent actions of his father. She was for the first time in her life confident that Elijah would soon move in with her. The call eventually did end up online, but not by Sara’s doing. She speculated that one of her colleagues must have shared it. Eventually, Elijah’s father also got wind of it and he was not happy about it at all. In the following weeks, he had several phone calls with the police and later even with Sara.  Luckily, there was nothing he could do without getting a case presented to him about how he handled the situation with his son. And thus, after just one angry complaint about the 911 operators, they never heard from him again. Elijah, in the meantime, was very happy with his decision to move in with his mother. When Mason finally tied the knot with the love of his life Julia, he thought that he had landed the perfect woman. But on the very first night, it already went wrong. Mason was locked out of his room and when he eventually managed to make his way in, he was completely flabbergasted by what he found inside… An almost immediate divorce started to look like the only possible option… Mason was banging on the door of his hotel room, but his new bride Julia was not opening it. He felt like she might not have been with him for the right reason but seeing how long they had stuck it out together and even made it to marriage, all those doubts were gone. When both of them left the bar, Mason found that he could not really get the words of his best man out of his head. What had he noticed that made him feel like Julia’s feelings might not have been genuine at first. Mason shook and tried to put it to the back of his mind. He had other things he needed to focus on… Mason made his way to the newlywed suite. He eagerly expected Julia to be waiting on him in their room to consummate the marriage so to speak.
